SEA MOSS: WHAT IS IT?

Sea moss is a kind of algae or seaweed that is recognised by its scientific name, Chondrus crispus. It thrives in the waters between North America and Europe along the rocky Atlantic shores.

It's an edible sea plant that resembles kelp, dulse, and other well-known leafy sea vegetables like algae and other seaweeds.

Sea moss can be found in several hues, including different tones of green, yellow, purple, red, brown, and black.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEAMOSS AND IRISH MOSS?

Our Sea Moss grows in warm, tropical oceans and has thick, stick-like branches. Irish moss also known as Chondrus Crispus grows in colder, northern oceans and has flat curly leaves. Both are part of the red algae family which makes them very similar in nutritional value.

WHAT DOES SEA MOSS TASTE LIKE?

Sea Moss itself does have a slight ocean fresh taste to it.

We suggest adding a squeeze of key lime juice when cleaning and preparing Sea Moss, this really helps to neutralize any ocean water smell and taste.

WHAT MINERALS CONTAINS SEA MOSS?

Zinc, iodine, iron, calcium, potassium, the B complex vitamins, sodium, sulphur, and silicon are a few of the minerals found in sea moss.
